Requiem (2006 film)

AND NOW FOR A FILM REVIEW.
I watched a German film today, entitled "Requiem." As far as films about epileptic girls who think the devil is possessing them during the 1970's go, it was pretty good. I'd give it four stars, I guess, me being an amateur film critic and connoisseur. It was a nice film, but nothing really happened, basically, it was all about your reactions. It starts off as a 21 year old girl trying to convince her mom to go to collage, holding up the letter of acceptance. The father already agreed and paid for her dorm room and everything, without telling the mom, and soon out-ruled her. So, when she goes to the collage, it's all nice and all, then she walks into some philosophy class late, and gets made fun of because when the prof asked what she believed in, she said she believed in 'God.' I don't really see why all those jerks laughed at her for being optimistic about the Great Perhaps, but whatever, they're all German college kids that just bitch about everything the entire film. The next scene, she's at some religious retreat with her family and her pastor. She kept praying to this saint that must have been epileptic or something, I don't know, I don't really partake in organized religions like everyone else, and throughout the whole film, she kept trying to be like her. When she had seizures, she thought that 'Satan' was possessing her, and for some reason, she couldn't touch her rosary beads. It goes on and on like that, her mom being a bitch, she trying to be a regular student. Her friend found her a couple times in her dorm room lying on the floor and once her boyfriend saw her freak out... They brought her to her parents' house and she basically FREAKED OUT, she was AWOL. Then a bunch of priests that she'd been seeing tried to perform exorcism on her, but they didn't show it. It was pretty sad. She died at the end.
I think I could probably forget about this by tomorrow. It's sort of a yeah-I-feel-like-watching-a-foreign-film-but-not-really kind of movie.
Still, it deserved four stars, three and a half at the least.

(I am horrible at writing synopses. sorry.)
Yesterday, I started reading this novel called "Freaks and Revelations" by Davida Wills Hurwin. It is one of those books where there are two narrators, you know? They're both social outcasts- Jason being gay, and Doug being a punk. It's set mainly in the 1970's and progresses into the early 1980's. I didn't get up to the 1980's part, I'm sill on page 161 when Jason is prostituting himself or hanging out with his friends, (I forget, sorry.) and discussing whether or not he should go with some dude somewhere. (Bad idea, kid!) Something tells me that he is going to end up getting raped. Oh well, not my fault, right? hahaha. As for Doug, he is on Sunset Boulevard (now home to the glorious Elliott Smith memorial wall, Figure Eight.) with his chin split open and bruised up, and I believe that he was about to be butt-raped as well. Hmm.. I can't remember.
All in all, it's pretty cool having two stories intertwine together and relate to each other like that. But it might help if the characters meet or something! Maybe later on they will.
